Voicework & Performance

I love voice acting, singing, and playing handbells. I’ve discovered I do not have a lot of examples to share on this page yet. I will fix that. For now, enjoy this older content of me vocalizing in various manners. Mostly “loud”.

Commerical Demo Reel

voiceover

In which I lend my voice to a kids’ book narration, extolling the virtues of personalized medical care, and trying to give zoo information while getting attacked by a lion*.

*No lions were harmed during the recording of this reel

Narrative Demo Reel

voiceover

An example of one of my video game acting auditions; the requirements were: 1. to introduce myself and talk about my personal recording equipment, 2. to perform the infamous “Indianapolis speech” from the movie Jaws, but with an original character voice, and 3. to perform a variety of “effort sounds”, something required for many video games.

I DID get cast for this project – the casting director said my audition was one of the top performances, and that he was going to give me “as much work as (I) could handle”. And THEN the casting director had to step down, and the voice acting for the project was put on hold indefinitely. Boo. Still chasing this dream. Still love this audition, especially the “getting to die horribly” part.

25 Years of “Litquake”

voiceover

A promotional video for Litquake, a non-profit literary festival based in San Francisco.

The video itself was already finalized, and I got tapped at the last minute to do the narration. I had to cram a LOT of words into a short span of time, and also make sure the narration lined up in places to match the visuals. It’s a real challenge to speak quickly AND clearly!

“Funeral Parlor”

performance – Theater

By Christopher Durang. Performed as part of “An Evening of Nonsense!” at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, Chelmsford MA – September 28, 2019

Warning: this video contains keening. Also, I’m the one with the blue hair and YOLO t-shirt. Just in case there was any question.

“Bell Trees A-Poppin'”

performaNce – Handbells

Belltree duet performed with Barbara Brocker at HMA National Seminar, Rochester, NY – July 13, 2016.

This was a BALL. Barbara and I had never met before. We rehearsed separately on opposite ends of the country. We came together the day before, brought it all together in about 2 hours, and performed it as part of her solo concert the next day. Part music presentation, part comedy routine. You may be sensing a pattern to my role preferences here.
